Role Responsibilities:
The Propane Tank Setter is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery, installations, and maintenance of residential and commercial customer's propane tanks.
This role requires the a strong commitment to safely operating a boom truck and installing equipment necessary to operate the tank, while complying with state and federal regulations standardizing the transport and delivery of hazardous materials.
Delivery and Installation
* Load and secure tank specified for delivery
* Plan route for each trip to minimize travel time and ensure safe road conditions.
* Set tank, ensuring location has been prepped correctly.
* Install copper conduit, gauges, relief valves and other necessary equipment.
This may require entering the customer's building to ensure proper installation.
* Check valves and connections for any leaks.
Maintain Equipment
* Complete daily pre and post trip inspections.
* Perform maintenance as necessary.
* Report any hazards in loading and unloading areas.
* Keep assigned vehicle clean and well organized.
Record Keeping
* Efficiently and accurately maintain daily manifests and trip logs, equipment logs, and sales logs.
* Record all materials used for an install
Hazardous Materials
* Report any spills immediately to the supervisor and Hazmat Emergency Response number.
* Maintain require logs of any incidents.
Customer Service
* Maintain open communication with supervisor regarding your schedule and any changes to the business needs.
* Ensure satisfactory working relationships with customers.
* Be aware of opportunities to increase sales or improve customer relations during your interactions and share with leadership as appropriate.
Knowledge and Experience Needed
* High school diploma or GED
* Successful completion of driver training certification from an accredited technical school or specialty driving program, combined with a minimum of six months experience operating comparable equipment.
* Must be 21 years old, as required by DOT regulations, to legally haul hazardous materials.
* Must possess and maintain a current, valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
