PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and training and in compliance with regulations set forth by the corporation, state, and federal agencies.

* Assist other health care members in providing patient specific detailed education regarding adequacy measures where appropriate - Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM), and regarding disease process/access.
Treatment:
* Welcome assigned patients and inquire as to their wellbeing since their last treatment.
* Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform vascular access cannulation, and perform administration of heparin as delegated or as allowed by state law.
* Obtain necessary pre and post treatment vital signs and weight and perform vascular access evaluation pre- treatment
* Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).

* Perform Resident's screening during the admission process and quarterly & annual screening to determine the need for therapy.
Essential Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy and Professional Licensure where required by state of law; two years clinical experience preferred.
* Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to utilize independent and effective clinical judgment, problem- solving and decision-making skills.
* Utilizes effective time management skills.

We are seeking a capable Surgical Assistant / First Assist / CVOR who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population.
* Responsible for assisting the surgeon under direct and indirect supervision throughout preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative duties and procedures as needed.
* Provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
Permanent: clamping and/or cauterizing vessels or tissue; tying and/or ligating clamped vessels or tissue; applying hemostatic clips; placing local hemostatic agents.
Temporary: applying tourniquets and demonstrating awareness of the indications/contraindications for use with knowledge of side effects of extended use; applying vessel loops; applying non-crushing clamps; applying direct digital pressure.
Utilizing appropriate techniques to assist with closure of body planes.
* Packing with sponges.
Digital manipulation of tissue.
Suctioning, irrigating, or sponging.
Manipulation of suture materials (e.g.
loops, tags, running sutures).
* Utilizing running or interrupted subcutaneous sutures with absorbable or non-absorbable material and subcuticular closure technique with or without adhesive skin closure strips.
Closing skin with method indicated by surgeon (suture, staples, etc.).
* Selecting and applying appropriate wound dressing: liquid or spray occlusive materials, absorbent material affixed with tape of circumferential wrapping; immobilizing dressing (soft or rigid).
* Points of pressure shall be padded: elbows, heels, knees, eyes, face, and axillary region.
Circulation shall not be impaired.
Nerve damage shall be guarded against.
* CVOR has 6 OR’s with 1 hybrid room.
We are a Level 1 Cardiac Center with 1200+ heart cases/year.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Graduate and /or certification from surgical assisting programs accredited through ARC/STSA.
* 2 years of surgical assistant/first assistant experience is required.
Some areas may require specialized experience.
* CVOR Experience a must.
Robotics experience preferred.
