Cleaning facility PIC performs the tasks associated with ensuring a barge is safe for entry by testing the atmosphere.
Once the barge is tested safe by a licensed industrial hygienist the helper will then perform the duties required to strip and clean the barge in order to prepare it for its next cargo per owners’ specifications.
The PIC must adhere to Kirby’s training, safety, drug, and security requirements in order to insure safe and efficient working conditions for barge cleaning.

Barge Cleaning and Stripping Operations
* Identify cargo contained in barge set for cleaning.
* Determine where cargo is to be transferred based on cargo type, amount, and available storage.
* Work under chemical hygienist and marine chemist to test tanks for vapor toxicity and LELs to ensure that levels are below the level required for safe entry.
* Enter the tanks of the barges to pump or rag out residual cargo.

A Machine Operator V will be responsible for the movement and storage of material within the distribution center utilizing a Reach Truck or Counterbalance Forklift.
Duties and responsibilities
* Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, or storage racks using the forklift.
This may involve positioning the forklift's forks under pallets, crates, or other types of containers and lifting them to move or stack the materials.
* Safely transporting materials within the warehouse or distribution center.
