This role supports staff development, advocates for individuals served, and collaborates with the Director of Residential Services to maintain efficient and responsive residential programs.

Key responsibilities include: 1.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, and inspections on KC-135 hydraulic systems including landing gear, flight controls, pumps, actuators, reservoirs, valves, and associated lines.
2.
Troubleshoot hydraulic malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, pressure gauges, diagnostic equipment, and hydraulic test stands.
3.
Remove, repair, overhaul, install, and test hydraulic components and assemblies such as pumps, accumulators, actuators, selectors, hoses, and manifolds.
4.
Conduct operational and functional checks of hydraulic systems to verify proper pressure, flow, and response characteristics after maintenance actions.
5.
Inspect hydraulic lines, fittings, and connections for leaks, wear, foreign object damage, contamination, and proper routing.
6.
Perform contamination control procedures, sample and analyze hydraulic fluid, and carry out de-servicing, servicing, and flushing operations as required.
7.
Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance actions in aircraft forms, digital maintenance systems, and discrepancy logs in accordance with Air Force standards.
8.
Maintain strict compliance with technical orders, safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, PPE requirements, and quality assurance guidelines.
9.
Coordinate hydraulic-related maintenance with crew chiefs, APG personnel, avionics, propulsion, and other specialty shops to resolve cross-system discrepancies.
10.
Support phase, isochronal, and special inspections, identifying discrepancies, recommending corrective actions, and verifying system integrity.
11.
Ensure proper tool accountability, equipment calibration, and safe operation of hydraulic servicing and testing equipment.

The KC-135 Aircraft Mechanic III - Lead APG Crew Chief serves as the senior technical authority for OID-level maintenance.
