Role Responsibilities : As the Deli Lead you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the deli department including leading staff, ordering inventory, and ensuring superior customer service.
The Deli Lead will be responsible for ensuring all safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations are adhered to.Additionally you'll be responsible for:
* Stocking the deli area with products in a clean and safe manner.
* Prepares Deli trays and products for sale.
* Follows USDA and Michigan Department of Agriculture rules, regulations, and standards for the Deli department.
* Assists with unloading deliveries to ensure product is received in good condition and stored properly.
* Ensures proper use of scale for correct pricing, weights, and tares.
* Maintains inventory working with Deli/Produce supervisor to select inventory, including types and quantities appropriate for changes in retail activity.
* Develops and maintains good working relationships with external inspectors and purveyors.
* Maintains records of deli inventory, spoilage, write-offs, and other operational data.
* Provides customer service by processing requests accurately in a courteous and pleasant manner.
* Assists customers with locating, choosing, and buying products.
* Ensure equipment, work surfaces, display cases, refrigerators, and freezers are cleaned properly with safe temperatures always maintained.
* Follows all safety standards and regulations, including ServSafe and portion control standards.
* Monitors staff training for compliance and necessary re-certifications.
* May assist in other areas in the store manager's absence.
QUALIFICATIONS :
* Must be 18 years of age or older.
* High school degree or GED combined with a minimum of six months experience in food preparation and handling.
* Knowledge of food retail marketing practices.
* Strong analytical skills.
