PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Works with the Facility Manager, facility staff and physician to coordinate the facility operations and patient procedures to ensure provision of quality patient care on a daily basis in accordance with policies, procedures and training. Provides nursing support to patients and staff.

DUTIES / ACTIVITIES:
Medical Assistant (MA) students must adhere to all facility and FMCNA policies and procedures.
Under the direction of the shift Nurse and direct supervision of their assigned PCT-P or PCTIII, the MA Student will:
• Welcome and escort patients to/from waiting room and to/from scale
• Weigh patients
• Take vital signs
• Perform screening of patients and staff for Coronavirus
• Surface disinfect stations/machines
• Hold cannulation sites
• Hand crank in emergency
• Prepare laboratory specimens
• Organize and restock supplies
• Review medications for expiration date and report to preceptor any expired medications
• Review supplies and lab tubes for expiration date and restock as needed
• Maintain environment cleanliness
• Follow up on referrals and patient appointments
• Clean blood spills
• Assist with administrative duties as assigned (ex, answering phone, coordinating patient transportation)
