The Director of Student Support is passionate about supporting students at risk for academic underperformance due to emotional and/or physical challenges or language acquisition barriers so that they can succeed in the rigorous academic programs within KIPP Capital Region Public Schools.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Student Support holds primary responsibility for ensuring that KIPP Capital Region NY provides the academic, emotional, and physical services for students who require additional support to thrive within the schools' core academic programs:
* Coordinate summer and academic year staff professional development in the areas of special education, English Language Learner instruction, and at-risk student services.
* Identify, train, support, and coach school-based special education coordinators, special education teachers, providers of related services (e.g., occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, social workers, counselors), and English Language Learner instructors.
* Train, support, and coach general education teachers in the areas of special education, English Language Learner instruction, and at-risk student services.
* Coordinate, in collaboration with the KIPP Cap Region Principals, the recruitment of full-time and part-time staff in the areas of special education, English Language Learner instruction, and at-risk student services.
* Provide support to the school-based special education coordinators in the following areas:
Conducting "Child Find" activities in accordance with State and Federal law.

The Special Education Teacher role holds the primary responsibility for developing, monitoring accommodations, and implementing the curriculum, school culture, and the success of the school's students with special needs.
Duties/Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Instruction
* Plan and deliver instruction while maintaining and improving instructional techniques and classroom management, including assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities.
* Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and assess students' progress
* Use data to inform instructional decisions
* Offer academic, emotional, and physical support while maintaining high expectations.
* Collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that offer appropriate accommodations and modifications.
* Demonstrate strong pedagogy

* Work collaboratively with your school team and those across KIPP Capital Region
* Help develop a school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers, and families

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Leadership Development (DLD) is a key member of the Regional Leadership Team, reporting to the Chief Schools Officer.
The Director of Leadership Development (DLD) build a strong school leadership pipeline to ensure that every school is led by a transformational leadership team.
This is in service of the ultimate goal of a transformational teacher in every classroom, driving rigorous and joyful learning to ensure equity for all students.
DLDs focus primarily on the onboarding, development, retention, and career progression of KCAPs principals and PIRs instructional lead team members, due to our belief that excellent school leaders are the key to hiring, developing, and retaining strong teachers.
DLDs also work alongside other regional partners to help to build a strong long term school leadership pipeline, beginning with teacher leadership development, continuing with campus lead team member development, and culminating in the Principals-in-Residence and New Principal coaching programs.
GOALS & MILESTONES
The Director of Leadership Development will be responsible for meeting the following ambitious goals.

* 70% of students passing the NY state exam in Reading & Math
