ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Pharmacy is seeking to fill a Pharmacy Technician II position for their CHS Pharmacy located in Moreno Valley.
Under the direction of the pharmacist staff, incumbents assigned to this class are responsible to help in the preparation and distribution of medications; and to do other related work as required.
This is the journey level class in the Pharmacy Technician series.
Under the guidance and supervision of the pharmacists, the technicians are responsible for the majority of the medication distribution and processing of prescriptions and medication orders.
The most competitive candidates will have the following experience:
* 1 year minimum as a Pharmacy Technician in a heavy retail outpatient pharmacy setting.
* Excellent computer skills.
* Typing and filling prescriptions.
* Checking and ordering inventory daily.
* Preparing daily med shipments.
* Answering phone calls and providing proper help to our jail providers and nurses.
CHS Pharmacy duties include but are not limited to the following:
o Type new prescriptions using the CIPS and TechCare systems.
o Run automated medication packaging machines and learn the operating systems in place (PARATA, and Pearson Medical).
o Fill medication orders in blister packs.
o Check, order and sort the inventory daily.
o Prepare daily shipments to the jails.
Jails duties include but are not limited to the following:
o Receive, sort & deliver shipped Meds to the different jail pods.
o Collect, fax & file prescriptions.
o Stock needed OTC meds & passing it to the providers and nurses as needed.
o Check Med carts daily and remove expired/ not needed meds in preparation for disposal.
o Communicate and act as the link between the Pharmacy & the providers/nurses working in the jail.

Medication services are provided as needed along with follow up mental health referrals for outpatient services.
In addition to the base pay, Clinical Therapists assigned to DETENTION positions receive an hourly differential of 20%.
This differential applies to all hours worked, which is any regular or overtime hoursworked up to 80 hours per pay period (it does not apply to the use of leave balances).Please note this differential is temporary and can be removed at any time.
