Eligibility:
* Children of active, retired, or deceased Alcoan’s.
* If openings remain, children of Local USW 104 members will be considered.
* If further openings remain, children of Alcoa Power Plant and IBEW employees will be considered.
Qualifications:
* Must be 18 years of age.
* Must be a current college student.
* Must provide verification of full-time undergraduate status for the 2024-2025 school year.
* Must have completed at least one year of college credits.
* Must have plans to return to college in fall 2025 and supply transcripts for the 2024-2025 semesters.
* Must provide a tentative schedule for fall 2025.
* If openings remain after all eligible college students have been considered, high school graduates accepted to college will be considered, provided they supply a signed affidavit confirming their college acceptance.
Job Responsibilities:
* Pull underpot, sweep anodes, mark bridges, straighten/replace side covers, tighten clamps, and unhook spent anodes.
* Perform housekeeping work.
* Limited painting tasks.
* Operate light trucks and walk-behind sweepers.
Additional Information:
* Summer employees will not be considered union/bargained employees.
* Summer employees are not eligible for holiday pay or any benefits through Alcoa.
* Summer employees must pass all required pre-employment screenings.

The Melt role is a team-based position and plays a crucial role in the success of each molding line.
This role is an entry-level opportunity and does not require any previous experience.
However, you must be able to tolerate a loud, warm, and physically challenging work environment. The successful applicant must be able to work in confined spaces, stand for extended periods of time, as well as handle molten metal in a safe and confident manner.
The position does offer the opportunity for cross training and experience in a variety of tasks related to production.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Basic math, calculator, and computer skills are highly desirable
Demonstrate ability to monitor furnace conditions
Accurately take readings
Make refractory repairs to cupola, ladles and furnaces.
Haul iron
Slag off molten iron
Rod and dump the furnace
Maintain cleanliness of production area
Operate yard crane to accurately weigh charge metals into the weigh hopper
Load and unload rail cars
Break up returns
Maintain the yard in orderly fashion
