Modeling & Analytics Engineer
INVISTA has an exciting opportunity within our Propylene Monitoring team and is seeking a Modeling & Analytics Engineer to join the group.
This role will be based onsite at the Houston Propylene plant, supporting both the Houston and Longview manufacturing sites.
Per candidate preference following the onboarding period, the role can be based at either the Houston or Longview site.
Our Team
The INVISTA Propylene Monitoring team supports asset reliability and production of propylene and polypropylene by developing and maintaining equipment and process monitoring models to detect anomalies and collaborating with sites to respond to anomalies, enabling proactive failure prevention.
This role will be primarily focused on deploying and maintaining monitoring models, using these models to identify process and equipment anomalies, and communicating these to site personnel.
As a member of the Transformation organization, you will also be expected to continuously innovate and improve our processes, systems, and yourself to stay competitive in our business.
What You Will Do
Model Developer
* Utilizing data analysis techniques and process/equipment knowledge, build monitoring models in various platforms to automatically detect process and asset anomalies, predict failures, and inform decision-making to prevent or mitigate equipment failures and lost production
* Work with asset owners and SMEs to prioritize monitoring opportunities and build high-quality, actionable models tied to equipment and process failure modes.
* Document design and assumptions for new models and incorporate lessons learned into model quality guidelines
* Seek opportunities to apply advanced and innovative modeling techniques and create relationships with third parties to build knowledge and mutually benefit from best practices.
* Continue to improve and apply skills in data analytics and modeling
Monitoring Analyst
* Leverage monitoring models to automatically identify potential process and equipment anomalies (early failures, adverse process conditions, etc.)
* Utilize data, experience, and troubleshooting skills to validate identified anomalies
* Communicate validated anomalies to the sites, including relevant information and data that will enable early response to the anomaly and prevention of process or equipment failure
* Drive continuous improvement of existing monitoring models to meet quality and availability targets in all monitoring platforms
* Grow in knowledge and understanding of reliability fundamentals (rotating, fixed, electrical, instrumentation, analyzers, process control systems)
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of chemical/industrial experience
* At least 2 years of relevant experience in investigating and/or troubleshooting process and equipment anomalies (early failures, adverse process conditions, etc.)
