Support Worker (Female only)

Astell House in Gateshead

Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw) working on a rolling rota where the shifts are 8am-8pm on a 4 on 4 off basis

Pay £12 per hour (£23,464 per annum) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

Want to be part of a team that really cares and empowers you to help change a customer’s life for the better? As our Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of supporting our customers who are fleeing domestic abuse who also may have complex needs.

You’ll make a big difference each day as you help our customers achieve their hopes and aspirations.

The team consists of 4 day support workers, that's what you will be and 4 night shift workers.

We have 3 support coordinators.

Paula and Michelle work at Astell House and Beth works on our dispersed properties where we have 8 properties in the community, Beth is supported by on support worker who works Mon-Fri 9-5pm.

Typical day as our Support Worker


* Assisting customers to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.


* Supporting customers fleeing domestic abuse.


* Helping customers with support around emotional support, domestic abuse also maybe budgeting and maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation.


* Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.


* Cuppas, chats and catch ups.

There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring


* Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail 


* Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children


* The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach


* Recognise every customer is different and you’re able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs. 

Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role.  This remains under regular review.
