Supervisors Legislative Assistant

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Board of Supervisors has an opportunity for a Supervisors Legislative Assistant to join the Supervisorial District 3 team in Murrieta.

The Supervisors Legislative Assistant serves as a key liaison between the Board of Supervisors Member and the community, representing the Supervisor at business openings, proclamations, and other public events.

The incumbent will also assist in conducting research, providing analysis, and supporting the development and implementation of county policies and ordinances, particularly in health and human services.

Acting under general supervision, the role requires strong public relations skills, including the ability to manage communications with constituents, stakeholders, and other governmental agencies.

This position demands discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information, as well as the highest level of professionalism.

This role requires travel to the Riverside office and throughout the district as needed as well as working on occasional nights and weekends for events and public engagements.

Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor's degree, experience with marketing, specifically with using social media for public engagement and communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

This class has been designated At-Will by the Board of Supervisors, in accordance with the provisions provided under Article 6, Section 601E (3) of the County Management Resolution and serves at the pleasure of the individual Supervisor.

Meet the Team!

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the County, certain special districts and the Housing Authority.

The Board enacts ordinances and resolutions, adopts the annual budget, approves contracts, appropriates funds, determines land use zoning for the unincorporated areas, as well as appoints certain County officers and members of various boards and commissions.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• May represent the Supervisor at a variety of meetings, gatherings and conferences; attend meetings of local government agencies, commissions and organizations; may serve as a liaison with officials of other government agencies, County departments, members of commissions and organizations, and their staff to expedite activities where County and Board of Supervisors' interests are involved.

• May present decisions, recommendations and findings of the Board at meetings, gatherings and conferences.

• Receive, investigate and report on complaints and inquiries regarding matters within a particular district; interview and provide assistance to the public both by telephone and in person.

• Conduct analysis of agendas for conferences and meetings; assemble and prepare background information for agenda items for review and consideration by the Supervisor; conduct analysis of the potential impact of other government agency policies and decisions on the County and pr...
