The Lead Discovery & Mechanistic Pharmacology team is a critical part of the Therapeutics Discovery (TD) organization in Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and is committed to the delivery of high-quality chemical leads needed for the generation of small molecule clinical compounds in all five J&JIM Therapeutic Area (TA) discovery teams.

This mission requires deep cross-disciplinary scientific expertise including chemistry, cellular and molecular pharmacology, enzymology, and screening technologies, coupled with an ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.

Building on a strong legacy of success, we are currently seeking an outstanding individual to join our team as a Senior Scientist in the Enzymology group.

This position will report to a senior member of the Lead Discovery & Mechanistic Pharmacology (LD&MP) Enzymology team
Key Responsibilities:


* This position is 85% lab-based with a requirement for on-site work.


* Provide enzymology & protein biochemistry subject matter expertise to internal program teams and external collaborations.


* Characterize complex target proteins and enzymes, their substrates, and reaction mechanisms to support hit identification and validation, and influence drug discovery program teams.


* Independently design, develop, and implement novel biochemical assays to drive small molecule lead identification through candidate declaration.
