Position Summary

Under the supervision of and accountable to the Family Foster Care Program Supervisor, the Youth Specialist is primarily responsible for providing direct services to children.

The Youth Specialist provides support and guidance to foster parents in order to enhance the success of the placement.

The Youth Specialist participates in the development of treatment plans for youth, working to develop and implement methods intended to achieve the identified goals and objectives outlined in the youth’s treatment plan via individual and/or group activities.

The Youth Specialist also maintains and updates individual case records, accurately documenting their services, and assists with transporting youth as needed in times of crisis and to appointments, activities, and visitation.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Utilizes interventions guided and supported by the clinical expertise of the therapist to assist program participants in meeting identified goals and achieving the maximum level of permanency.

2.    Supervises children and adolescents in a foster home on a predictable and regular schedule, via the provision of respite.

3.    Provides a positive role model for clients and works to expand and integrate clients into the community setting.

4.    Will coordinate with other program staff for foster care group activities and trainings.

5.    Will assist with acquiring required documentation and filing in client records.
