Transportation Planner I

Do you have a passion for transportation? Do you know your geography? The Krusteaz Company is seeking a Transportation Planner I to join the team! Transportation at The Krusteaz Company (KCO) moves freight and information between KCO, suppliers, and customers.

This position leads Transportation’s transactional North American truckload and less-than-truckload processes, including load planning, scheduling, tendering, service exceptions, and freight dispositions.

The ideal candidate for this role will be able to coordinate multiple logistical partners and quickly solve transactional problems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.


* Supervise load planning, scheduling, and tendering within the transportation management system (TMS).


* Proactively own transportation-managed shipments into and out of assigned facilities.


* Supervise carrier's and broker’s capacity and tender acceptance.


* Lead resolution on operational/tactical exceptions including scheduling, pick-up, and delivery.


* Validate and negotiate accessorial charges.


* Communicate and mitigate service challenges as appropriate.


* Facilitate effective communication between transportation suppliers and KCO stakeholders to enable stakeholder success.


* Drive transportation and supplier continuous improvement.

Education and/or Experience:


* High School education or equivalent required.


* 3+ years in domestic truckload and/or less-than-truckload transportation.


* Experience working for or with carriers, brokers, and logistics suppliers.


* Experience with business systems (ERP, TMS, WMS, and EDI) preferred.


* Documented history of success in transportation that includes load planning, carrier capacity and performance management, rate analysis and negotiation, and claims resolution.
