Performance Engineer- Senior Lead Software Engineer

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you are an integral part of an agile Performance Engineering team that works to provide specialized expertise to influence the target state architecture and strategy through testing and improving the performance capabilities of applications under review.

You will leverage your skills to drive significant business impact and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications in both private and public cloud.

Job Responsibilities


* Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors


* Drives well-tuned implementations of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies.


* Master multi-cloud performance tooling; and lead the architecture and engineering of performance tooling to meet the firm's needs.


* Build mechanisms to measure and track application efficient use of public and private cloud resources: compute, storage, database, and network.


* Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes


* Anticipate and Identify issues - Performance Engineers look for potential problems that could negatively impact performance and work to eliminate or mitigate them.


* Plan and develop methodologies for standard performance benchmarks and comparisons.


* Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus


* Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle


* Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies


* Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience


* Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability


* Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)


* Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight


* Infrastructure knowledge of VMWare virtualization and associated tooling


* Hands-on experience in performance troubleshooting skills
