Job Summary

NOTE: This position is in-person at the Corpus Christi Refinery.

The Fixed Equipment Engineer position at CITGO Corpus Christi, provides technical expertise and recommendations for fixed equipment mechanical integrity, repairs, and reliability improvements.

This role also provides fixed equipment technical support to refinery operations and maintenance.

Act as a technical liaison for the assigned units or area to other areas of the company (such as the Business Optimization Group, Project Engineering, Process Design Environmental, Safety, Strategic Planning, Purchasing, etc.) as well outside parties (such as equipment, chemical and catalyst vendors).

Minimum Qualifications



* B.S.

Degree in Mechanical engineering or other related engineering degree.


* Overall GPA of 3.0 or above (A=4.0) (Must provide proof of current GPA at time of hire to verify eligibility requirements are met).


* Refinery/Petrochemical process plant engineering experience providing technical support for unit operations, piping, fixed or rotating equipment.


* Valid driver's license required.


* Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)

Preferred Skills:


* Two (2) years or more of related engineering experience


* Working knowledge of ASME PCC-2 Repair of Pressure Equipment and Piping


* Familiarity or experience with API 650 and 653 Tank Design, Fabrication and Inspection codes


* Experience with performing Level 1 and/or Level 2 API-579 Fitness for Service Analyses


* Experience applying ASME/API/NBIC codes and calculations relating to alterations, re-rates and repairs


* Familiarity, working knowledge or direct experience with API 580/581 Risk Based Inspection methodology

Job Duties



* Monitor, optimize and troubleshoot daily operation of assigned units.


* Report on unit performance (including operational problems and opportunities) via formal monthly reports and daily verbal and written communications as needed.


* Generate both high and low-cost ideas to improve unit profitability.

Work both independently and as a team to develop and implement these ideas.
