The Riverside County Department of Housing & Workforce Solutions (HWS) is seeking to fill a Development Specialist I position located in Riverside.

The selected candidate for Development Specialist I will serve the Community and Housing Development Grant Unit of the Housing and Workforce Solutions (HWS).

The incumbent will work with business communities and will be taking an active role in the Community and Housing Development Grant Unit.

The incumbent's duties include but not limited to program management, participating in projects and activities for the Community Block Grant Unit (CDBG)/ Emergency Solution Grant (ESG), and reviewing applications, will provide technical assistance, and participate in community events.

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and exceptional networking capabilities to engage effectively with the business communities.

Additionally, the most competitive candidates will have knowledge and experience with Federal or State grants that include the following:



* Community Development Block Grant, Emergency Solutions Grant, and the Home Investment Partnerships Grant programs;


* Intermediate levels of Microsoft Office;

The Housing and Workforce Solutions Department (HWS) is comprised of 6 Divisions: Community Action Agency, Continuum of Care, Riverside County Housing Authority, Grants & Community Development, Workforce Development, and HWS Administration.

The mission of HWS is to enhance the economic position of the county and its residents, improve the quality of life, encourage business growth, build a positive business climate, develop a trained workforce, improve existing communities, offer a variety of housing opportunities, and maintain the environment.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Interview applicants for special employment and training programs to determine income, employment status, education, experience, interests, and other factors relevant to program eligibility; maintain client contacts to assess progress, provide motivational counseling and make appropriate resource referrals; provide information regarding available employment and training programs to individuals and community organizations.

• Complete or assist applicants in completing application, referral or registration forms; inform applicants of other employment and training opportunities and resources in the community.
