ABOUT THE POSITION

The Riverside County Office on Aging is seeking a highly skilled Accountant I/II for our Riverside, CA office.

This critical role will involve managing grants, overseeing contract accounting, and ensuring precise financial reporting.

The successful candidate will possess advanced Excel skills, experience in government accounting, and excellent communication abilities.

This position is essential for maintaining compliance with financial regulations and supporting our mission to effectively manage resources for aging services.

The Accountant I/II will work under the supervision of the Principal Accountant.

Responsibilities include analyzing complex financial data to ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The incumbent will review journal entries from the reporting and capital asset sections to confirm compliance with accounting standards, perform reconciliations, and assist with capital asset management.

This position provides significant opportunities for career advancement, with Accountant I roles serving as a stepping stone to Accountant II.

While Accountant I is an entry-level position, Accountant II represents the fully qualified journey-level role within the professional Accountant series.

Accountant II involves greater responsibilities and requires the ability to exercise independent judgment on complex accounting and auditing tasks.

This role demands advanced proficiency in Excel, and a CDL may be needed for check collection duties.

Accountant II positions report to supervisory or managerial roles and handle a broader range of assignments requiring a higher level of technical expertise than those assigned to Accountant I.

Initial training will be conducted in the office, with telecommuting options becoming available afterward.

The role offers the potential for a hybrid telework schedule depending on business needs.

However, please note that job requirements may occasionally necessitate in-person presence.

Telework arrangements may be adjusted as needed, and you will be expected to report to the office if required.

Knowledge of Power BI and PeopleSoft are desirable.

* A copy of your degree if your major was in Accounting


* Transcripts for all other degrees


* Valid California CPA or CIA license


* Foreign Equivalency Evaluation from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services ( NACES )or Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.

( AICE ) if your Accounting degree was awarded outside of the United States.

Note: Education not meeting the 18-semester or 27-quarter unit Accounting concentration does not fulfill our educational criteria.
