Nursing Education Instructor - Correctional Health Services Department
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Riverside University Health System-Correctional Health Services (CHS) Department i s seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nursing Education Instructor.
Under general direction, conducts orientation programs for new CHS staff and participates in the planning and implementation of an in-service training program in nursing for CHS; plans course curriculum and provides educational courses including CEUs, instructs nurses how to perform the full range of professional nursing duties; and performs other related duties as required.
The most competitive candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Nursing
* Minimum of 4 years of working experience as an RN in an acute care setting.
* Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Teams, Forms, and Power Point), with knowledge of Techcare EHR and EPIC healthcare systems.
* Strong public speaking skills, comfortable delivering presentations or educating staff.
Work Schedule:
5/40 - Monday to Friday

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Instruct organized in-service nursing courses to professional, para-professional and volunteer nursing personnel.
• Participate in planning curriculum, teaching schedule and course outline; participate in evaluation and revision of instruction and nursing practices.
• Ensure all policies and procedures are reviewed and updated on a regular bases, maintaining compliance with current healthcare standards and regulations.
• Monthly Newsletters; draft and distribute monthly newsletters to keep staff informed of important updates, events, and initiative within the department and organization.
• Lead and coordinate probationary training programs for RSO staff, providing guidance and support throughout their probationary period.
• Yearly Skills Day Events: Plan, organize, and conduct yearly skills day events.
• Research state-of-the-art nursing practices and instruction methods.
• Conduct orientation programs for new nursing personnel; perform direct nursing care services as needed in response to emergency situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: Equivalent to two years of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute hospital setting.
A California Standard Designated Subject Credential in Registered Nursing may substitute for one year of the required experience.
