SUMMARY
The Infectious Disease Laboratory Branch (IDLB) is currently seeking highly motivated Microbiologists to join the Genomics Center group.
In this role, the candidate will work collaboratively and cross-functionally with colleagues to execute Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows that support the surveillance, diagnostics, and research efforts of the California Department of Public Health.
This role will be part of a team that will be involved in all aspects of the NGS workflow including library preparation, targeted enrichment, and DNA sequencing.
The ideal candidate should have a broad scientific background and lab experience in molecular and cellular biology, understanding of sequencing technologies, and expertise in sequencing platforms such as Illumina and Oxford Nanopore.
The position is in Richmond, CA.

The hourly range for this position is $36.00 to $44.00 per hour depending on experience/ qualifications.
Must be able to work flexible hours that may include weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Participate in all aspects of NGS workflow including sample preparation, library generation, DNA sequencing and data generation.
* Operate and maintain various laboratory instrumentation, including NGS sequencers, Liquid Handlers, and PCR/qPCR machines.
* Develop and optimize methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for comprehensive DNA sequencing using short and long-read sequencing technologies.
* Collaborate with a cross-functional teams to design and execute verification and validation studies for regulatory submissions.
* Collaborate with researchers across the organization to plan and execute experiments studying pathogens of public health importance.
* Perform work according to established internal safety and quality guidelines and procedures, and as specified by appropriate external regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, FDA).
* Maintain supplies in the laboratory and ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Good Clinical and/or Good Laboratory practices.
* Summarize experimental results, and review conclusions with research supervisors/ project leaders.

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Corporate Sustainability & Climate Change to join our growing corporate sustainability and climate change advisory services practice in one of our offices across North America.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to a team developing and growing ERM’s corporate sustainability and climate change business, with a particular focus on decarbonization and clean energy.
ERM delivers a wide range of climate change services including climate risk analysis and reporting, strategy development, policy and regulatory analysis, target setting, and benchmarking.
We help clients, including global companies, electric and natural gas utilities, and financial institutions develop and implement climate change programs across a broad range of industry sectors and contribute to climate and clean energy policy development.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to play a key role working with an expert consulting team on leading-edge climate advisory projects for Fortune 500 and privately held clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Managing Clients and Projects
* Demonstrates expertise in the evaluation of climate and clean energy policy; climate change risks and opportunities associated with corporate and operational decarbonization; and conducting decarbonization forecasts and technical analyses.
* Helps clients with industrial and commercial energy and climate-related challenges including evaluation of alternative fuel and advanced technologies; management of in-use demonstration programs; technical, operational, and economic analysis to evaluate new business cases; and address policy requirements to integrate climate-solutions.
* Works with leading electric utilities and industries collaborating to address key market, regulatory and technical factors affecting the growth of the market for clean energy transition.
* Supports development of climate change strategy, action planning, and/or modeling of and setting science-based targets.
* Thinks strategically in order to influence decision-makers and outcomes.
* Distills complexity from detail to effectively coach colleagues to deliver high-quality outputs.
* Delivers strong project management and oversight through the project lifecycle, including scoping, budget, and delivery.
* Provides strong analytical skills, excellent writing and presentation skills, and a mastery of impactful client communication.
* Builds strong and trusted relationships with clients and/or business partners

MAINTAIN QUALITY:

• Check work performed and report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
• Visually check work performed and report any possible hazards or errors.
MAINTAIN RECORDS:
• Maintenance of test results.
5S:
• Keep equipment and working area clean for the purpose of safety, appearance, and operating efficiency.
• Place equipment, tooling and gauging in proper location at the end of shift or completion of job task.
• Cleanup work area at the end of shift and/or during shift as required.
SAFETY AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Observe safety rules and wear required safety equipment while on the job, such as a hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, face shields, and hearing protection.
