This unit is designated for orthopedic patients, patients in need of comprehensive rehabilitation and acute rehabilitation of both traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury, ventilator-dependent patients, and patients with tracheotomies.
Additional patient populations include neurosurgical and nonsurgical neurology, and infants transitioning from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Neurology and neurosurgical patients are also cared for on 3 West.
This unit was designed to provide single patient care rooms to allow for privacy and family presence during the hospital stay.
Position is full-time, rotating shifts, 60 hrs in 2 wks, 12-hr rotating shifts, 2/6 weekends, every other holiday.
The primary role of the Registered Nurse is to implement the patient care delivery model for the patient and their family.
Additionally, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, providing and evaluating, the care provided to assigned patients.

* Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
* BSN Preferred, obtained within 3 years of start required
* Inpatient Experience Preferred
* Must be eligible for Delaware State license (or compact license).

The Nurse Extern will have the ability to build upon previous coursework and clinical practicums to combine the scientific process, evidence, clinical judgement, and creative problem solving to support clinical decision making across care continuum.

This position is PART-TIME, 0.5 FTE, rotating shifts, with every third weekend and holiday rotation.
3 East is a surgical intermediate unit with a high population of patients requiring post-operative care for urological issues, traumatic injuries, and general surgery.
3 East also cares for patients with acute and end stage renal disease and patients requiring an intermediate level of nursing care due to their tracheostomy and/or ventilator needs.
Each patient room is equipped with oxygen, compressed air, and suction along with state-of-the-art cardiorespiratory bedside monitors and computers that enable the healthcare team to access a patient's electronic medical record.
