Purchases a high volume and variety of materials, supplies and services.
Evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers and negotiations price, delivery, quality and service.
Follows up on all awards until completion of order.
Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.

Responsible for conducting engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work.

Job Description
Primarily responsible for assistance in daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing processes for manufacturing of night vision systems.
Including but not limited to: optimization of manufacturing processes, implementation of cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination), review/disposition of night vision systems and components, and training production employees to improve work processes and product quality, work to minimized or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory and production issues.
A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipment.
Have an understanding and skills in effectively applying Six-Sigma tools to benefit the organization and customers.
Additionally, the candidate will be versed in Lean tools and their application to reduce waste.
This is a hands-on engineering technician position.
The individual can expect to spend >70% of their time engaging directly with the factory teams on the shop floor to be most effective.

Qualifications
* Associates degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) or equivalent related work experience
