Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting in the general upkeep of well locations as well as mechanical repairs on equipment; construction, threading pipes, perform mechanical hookups with pumps and valves and general labor duties at well sites.

SUMMARY:
The person in this position inspects, services, and maintains diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations, diagnoses diesel-engine malfunctions, and makes indicated repairs using hand tools, measuring instruments, and sometimes machine tools.

POSITION PURPOSE
The R&D Technician I perform a wide variety of tasks in support of the Global Engineering team’s technology and innovation initiatives under the direction of the R&D lab lead.
The role works in a team environment to support the operation and maintenance of all aspects of the R&D Lab including the test facility, equipment, tools, and instrumentation.
Responsible for safely assembling and modifying evaporative heat transfer equipment and components under the direction of R&D Lab Lead.
Conducts all aspects of the evaporative thermal test process.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Piping and instrumentation of evaporative heat transfer equipment for thermal, sound and vibration testing
* Installation and monitoring of sensors and various measurement devices associated with product tests.
* Generation of accurate and detailed test reports to communicate test results to various internal customers.
* Assist with the preventive maintenance and upkeep of the R&D laboratory facilities and equipment.
* Safely assemble and disassemble evaporative heat transfer equipment and components.
* Demonstrate thermal testing concepts and develop the essential mechanical, electrical and computer skills necessary for successful completion of Global Engineering test projects.
NATURE AND SCOPE
* The R&D Tech I reports to the R&D Lab Manager.
This role interfaces with multiple engineering teams and the production environment.
This position will start on regular shift and will eventually move to 2nd shift operation.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
* High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical trade schools highly desired.
* 2 years+ of experience in the mechanical, electrical, or plumbing trades preferred.
* Demonstrated efficiency in use of hand tools, power tools, powered lift trucks and platform scissor-lifts preferred.
* Knowledge of electrical and mechanical concepts
* Good written and oral communication skills; strong team player
* Good computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft products and data collection spreadsheets
* Self-Directed and ability to work with minimal supervision.

What will you be doing?
As a Staff Engineer 2, you will play a key role in assisting a team of experts with the development of plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and bid packages.
You will be involved in project discussions regarding technical approach, cost, and scheduling performance on traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build projects.
You will also have the opportunity to observe construction on municipal infrastructure projects (sewer, storm drain, water, etc.) including identifying contractor conformance with design drawings and specifications, measurement of installed quantities, shop drawing review, coordination with city staff and residents, and preparation of daily reports.
What does a Staff Engineer 2 need?
Over 2 years of consulting experience and an understanding of the water industry.
A BS degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or any related field is required, and an MS degree is preferred.
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HydroCAD would be a plus.
You are presumed to be enthusiastic to learn, self-motivated, and have strong, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills.
