Computational Physicist/Scientist

The BerrieHill Research Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc.

(ARA) is seeking a dynamic Computational Physicist to support our research and development in advanced multidisciplinary Multiphysics modeling and simulation for high performance computers.

The qualified candidate selected for this position will work out of our Stanton, CA office.

What you’ll do as a Computational Physicist:


* Work with a unique group of highly skilled and experienced mathematicians, physicists, engineers, and computer scientists to solve complex, large-scale computational problems in electromagnetics and related fields

Computational Physicist Requirements:


*  B.S.

in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Electrodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, or Acoustics with some programming experience


* 2 – 4 years of relevant experience


* Ability to obtain a Security Clearance


* Ability to demonstrate the main skill of a physicist - creative thinking


* Understanding the physics of the problem to be solved


* Ability to summarize or describe progress or tasks in technical reports and develop technical presentations


* Work and collaborate with other engineers and scientists


* Able to develop a milestone schedule or work plan to achieve the final task objectives in a timely manner with limited supervision


* Experience in generating analytical or simplified formulations which can be used to verify the solution of the actual problem


* Experience in quick prototyping of the algorithms

Computational Physicist Preferences:


*  M.S.

or Ph.D.

degree preferred


* Active or previous Security Clearance


* Familiarity in the following areas:
+ Computing languages such as Matlab, Python, C/C++, Fortran, or similar programming languages
+ Linux (e.g., bash/csh/makefiles)
+ Parallel computing using OpenMP and/or MPI including memory usage and load balancing or communication balancing
