Clinical Pharmacist

The Clinical Pharmacist evaluates and interprets results of published research and other clinical data for injectable and infusible drugs, biologicals, pharmacogenomic tests and other services in order to evaluate safety and effectiveness.

The Clinical Pharmacist develops key reporting measures and assists with the development of business cases to support the Company’s injectable and infusible drug strategy.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



* Systematically evaluates and interprets results of published research and other clinical data in order to evaluate safety and effectiveness of injectable and infusible drugs, biologicals, pharmacogenomic tests and other services.

* Responsible for coverage policy development activities.


* Assists in identifying potential challenges in implementing specialty pharmacy and developing solutions to overcome these challenges.


* Develops key reporting measures.


* Develops business cases to assist with decision making on management of selected drug and biological agents.


* Participates in proactive monitoring of new and emerging medical technology.


* Provides drug information as needed and assists with clinical questions on related topics.


* Evaluates and analyzes utilization patterns and makes recommendations to achieve most cost-effective utilization for services covered through the medical benefit.


* Interfaces with appropriate internal and external contacts.


* Participates on interdepartmental committees as needed.


* Performs additional related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
 



* Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) or equivalent.

Pharmacist licensure required.


* Minimum of two years related healthcare work experience including experience in research analysis, statistics or other quantitative field.

Comprehensive knowledge of principles of clinical study design and research methodology.


* Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements for medical devices, drugs and biologics preferred.


* Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional deadline oriented projects to a successful conclusion.


* Advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.


* Excellent organizational, time management, presentation, verbal and written communication skills.


* Demonstrated leadership ability.
