JOB PURPOSE

The Manager of Service, for the NMC Total Truck Division, leads the operation of the assigned Service Department in compliance with established policies and procedures.   This position is responsible for providing a safe workplace and developing a “Safety First” culture.  Plans, directs and controls the activities of the Service Department to ensure the overall growth and profit objectives are met.

Formulates the major objectives, specific plans, plan procedures and programs for the Service Department; evaluates the department’s results and performance against objectives.

Maintains the highest quality standards of professionalism in serving the customer and identifying their needs.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY JOB DUTIES                                                                                                                              

Responsibilities encompass all aspects of the Assigned Service Department’s day to day operations in relation to Class 8 Total Truck inspection, and repair focusing on Continuous Improvement and including, but not limited to, the following:                                                         


* Responsible for the daily operations of the assigned service department, including managing location staff, reviewing profit and loss, staffing, employee development and training, equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and safety regulations.


* Assess present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of the Service Department.


* Within the Company’s overall plans and policies, establish short and long term operating and financial objectives for the Service Department.


* Plans, manages and controls all Shop and Field service-related activities associated with service repair work.


* Strives for constant improvement and development of service department by researching and developing new techniques and procedures to increase overall efficiency of service department operation.


* Ensures the highest levels of customer service possible are provided through constant communication with the technicians, support functions, and the customer.


* Participate in required safety programs and ensure that all employees complete safety training and work in a safe manner.


* Provides frequent communication of service status updates for each customer, as well as research, fact-finding, resolution and follow-up of customer questions and concerns so that nothing come as a surprise to the customers.

Provides advice related to replace versus repair options.
