Senior Manager, Sales & Operations Planning

POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Senior Manager, S&OP, is a key leader in Logistics.  The primary responsibilities of the Sr.

Manager, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) is to direct the S&OP processes for USG’s key lines of business (Wallboard, Ceilings, Surfaces & Performance Materials).  The Sr.

Manager, S&OP is responsible for multiple Logistics Planning teams, including Sales and Operations Planning, Demand Planning, Supply Planning and Network Optimization planning (NOP) for 40 manufacturing plants, spanning multiple business units and representing over $3B in revenue.
 
The Senior Manager supports USG’s strategic goals through effective and efficient planning and forecasting, including interpreting and analyzing historical data and forecast trends, and consistently improving and innovating within the function.  This leader identifies and researches business issues to identify potential problems that need to be addressed in the he S&OP process.  The leader of this function assists in determining short- and long-range requirements in personnel, material, and facilities.  The successful leader interfaces with Manufacturing, Transportation, Sourcing, and Production Planning to ensure enterprise wide Supply Chain alignment.
 
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 


* Direct the S&OP process, including Demand Planning, Supply Planning, and Network Optimization Planning as part of the enterprise wide Supply Chain team


* Leads multiple teams, managing staff of managers, analysts, and planners, prioritizing and coordinating department resources.


* Coordinates cross functionally with a diverse group of internal stakeholders (Sales, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Supply Chain, and IT) to achieve optimal outcomes for USG


* Lead complex cross-functional supply chain projects and initiatives.


* Develop business cases for both capital & IT investments, identifying and tracking costs and benefits to ensure projects are executed, delivered on time and within budget.


* Collaborate with IT partners to provide leadership and execution for Oracle ERP and business intelligence software development, including technology roadmaps.


* Develop supply chain network capacity in support of 1, 3, & 5-year business plans, and ensure alignment of financial/business plans with operations plans.


* Champion adoption of Lean Six Sigma and Lean Management, developing a team of green belts, sponsoring projects, and leading value stream map kaizen events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:


* Excellent leadership, people, and coaching skills.


* Significant experience working with Oracle or equivalent ERP software, and Demand & Forecasting software experience


* Strong analytical and decision-making skills, including the ability to identify and analyze problems, set priorities, and to recommend creative solutions.



* Capable of building strong cross-functional relationships and understanding needs of internal customers.


* Ability to think at a strategic level and translate strategic vision to actionable plans.


* Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, written and verbal communication and presentation skills; effective at the working level as well as executive levels


* Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals


* High competency with Microsoft Excel, Office, PowerPoint, and Access


* Ability to travel as necessary. 

Education and Related Experience


* BA/BS degree in a business, logistics, technical discipline or equivalent – MBA preferred.


* APICS certification desired. 


* Leadership experience managing teams.

 
Years of Experience


* 10+ Years supply chain experience in the Manufacturing or CPG industry


* 5+ Years in Supply Chain Management supervisory role
 

Certification Requirements

LSS Black/Green Belt preferred
