Strategic Marketing and Technology Leader

Position Overview:

The Strategic Marketing Leader is accountable to work with the commercial director and national sales leads to set the strategy for the US retail or commercial businesses.

He /she is responsible for the strategy in terms of choices for customer segments (where to play, how to win), channel marketing plans and customer/species matrix and product portfolio.

The incumbent is responsible for building the strategic marketing capability in the business, driving the brand strategy and coinciding 7ps (people, positioning, product, pricing, packaging, place, promotion) while focusing on customer channel strategies, customer engagement and driving consumers to our brand and customers alike.

The strategic marketing leader is responsible for developing our product and brand portfolio, innovation of new products, solutions and services, consumer insights and customer marketing which translates into financial results.

This position will be accountable for:

1.

Business results and growth – including marketshare, gross margin, brands, species and customer channels.

2.

Building strategic marketing capabilities in the business - develop the US strategic marketing and technology plan and capabilities that drive growth and accompanies our retail strategy.

This includes a brand strategy with a robust portfolio offering and the execution of tactical marketing (i.e.

people, positioning, product, pricing, packaging, place, promotion) across the business that translates into financial results.

Manage the species and customer matrix as demonstrated by increased marketshare.

3.

Customer focus – work closely with the sales teams to develop relevant brand and channel strategies to serve and grow with our customers, manage a winning product portfolio and drive foot traffic with the incorporation of consumer and marketplace trends which will be measured by marketshare growth.

Principal Accountabilities:

50% - Marketing leadership within the retail business including the above accountabilities, driving execution associated with annual marketing plans, overall retail strategy, customer channel and brand strategies.

This includes development of the portfolio and offerings while driving cross functional team alignment and customer interactions to keep our customer at the core of our efforts.

Provide tactical marketing leadership to the business by ensuring a relevant and compelling offering to satisfy customers and grow profitability in the customer segments we choose to serve (including innovation, consumer insights, customer marketing and brand leadership).

To effectively accomplish this, spending time with customers and consumers in the marketplace is a requirement.

30% - Lead and engage a unified retail SMT team including team development, coaching and supervising the team.

20% - Leadership, input and influence on our broader retail business as demonstrated by contributions to the Retail Leadership Team.

Required:

• 10+ years of demonstrated expertise in marketing or sales with a track record of being able to achieve business success and/or market share growth

• Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguous situations, lead with resilience and agility

• Demonstrated ability to develop and coach others while leading an engaged team (leading a direct team for a minimum of 4 years)

• Demonstrated ability to manage financial elements of the business, including budgets, product margins, return on investment and profitability analysis

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education

• Experience and passion in agriculture related industry with a lifestyle focus, retail or consumer packaged goods

• Experience in building consumer brands

• Product line management and managing a robust portfolio
