The Shared Services team is responsible for designing and developing UIs and Web Services that are integral to OCLC’s core products.

We have a focus on architecting robust solutions because numerous products rely on our services to always be available and working correctly.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Software Engineer will have experience with everything from Web UI’s, Web Services and Applications, to database development.

Responsibilities:


* Perform high level analysis and design software for new and existing systems



* Use industry standard programming techniques to translate requirements and designs into code


* Work with others to design solutions for high-availability web services


* Design, code and test multiple modules of a system in a timely manner


* Participate in unit, system & acceptance testing by designing tests, building test data, along with making recommendations/improvements/fixes to the tested system


* Plan and assist in load, capacity, and performance analysis and/or testing.


* Assist in requirements creation by working with the product manager and other developers


* Support the application in production


* Contribute to architectural reviews


* Participate in the analysis and implementation of third party solutions for OCLC applications with the ability to understand the impact and analyze the risk

Qualifications:


* Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a Computer Science-related discipline required


* At least 5-7 years of software development experience


* Strong Java skills with 5+ years coding experience


* Strong JavaScript skills with 3+ years coding experience


* Development experience with React/Redux


* Experienced with testing frameworks for Java and JavaScript


* Proficient in object-oriented design


* Good Understanding of Database design principles


* Good oral and written communication skills
