Production Supervisor II

National Gypsum Company is a fully integrated manufacturer and supplier of building and construction products worldwide including Gold Bond® BRAND gypsum wallboard, ProForm®  BRAND joint treatment products and PermaBase® BRAND cement board. 

We have an immediate opening for a Production Supervisor II at our IFP Plant in Duluth, GA.  This position will report to the Plant Manager.  

Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of the Ready Mix and Dry Powder departments as directed by the department manager at the Atlanta IFP Plant in Duluth, GA.

In addition, this position will be responsible for capital and maintenance projects to include design, development and implementation. 

Major Job Responsibilities (not all inclusive):

     1.  Supervise the 24/7 operations of the Wet Joint Compound and Dry Powder production lines and related plant operations.
     2.  Ensure a safe working environment through effective safety training and inspections.
     3.  Actively monitor shift activities for quality, process, maintenance and personnel issues.
     4.  Manage department labor, productivity, and maintenance budgets to meet cost goals.
     5.  Motivate personnel in a manner that effectively promotes good morale, housekeeping, and high productivity.
     6.  Responsible for accurate production reporting and raw material inventories.
     7.  Conduct and evaluate testing processes to improve product consistency and quality.
     8.  Investigate quality complaints and implement corrective action.
     9.  Develop and implement department Preventative Maintenance program to reduce machine downtime and repair costs.
    10. Serve on plant committees as determined by Plant Manager.
    11. Perform duties of Department Manager in his/her absence.
    12. Performance indicator responsibilities include:
                   a.  Safety: TCIR and LTIR of 0.
                   b.  Percent defective.
                   c.  Machine efficiency.   
                  d.   Unplanned downtime.
                  e.   PM completion %.
                   f.   Repair costs.
                  g.   Inventory Turns.
                  h.   Process and product specification compliance.

    13.   SAP – Will be responsible for checking production and downtime entries as well as assisting with scheduling production and making any necessary adjustments. 
    14.   Cycle counting – responsible for monthly, or sooner if needed, cycle counts of critical items and then responsible for investigating and correcting any discrepancies
