DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS) a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Bridgeport/Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees.

Position Summary

Set up and execute complex electrical/mechanical engineering prototype fixtures.

Troubleshoot complex electrical schematics and associated equipment down to component level.

 

Duties and Responsibilities


* Support engineering with a variety of moderately complex electrical engineering related duties and/or hands-on tasks


* Captures electrical schematics in electrical CAD tools such as ORCAD or PROMIS-E


* Performs electrical wiring and soldering rework of prototype hardware


* Performs electrical setup of high power system testing and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes and power analyzers)


* Develops test documentation


* Reviews project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions, and to support the design for manufacture


* Orders prototype materials


* Analyzes test results related to the design and test objectives and adjusts equipment to bring within specifications


* Records these test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods


* Other duties as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications


* Completed at least a two year technical degree specializing in electronics or electrical engineering


* Thorough understanding of electrical test equipment including multimeter, oscilloscope, power analyzer, logic analyzer, etc.


* Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
