Director of Risk Management

Located just off the Highway 101 corridor, approximately 55 miles north of San Francisco, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 337-bed acute care hospital providing a wide range of specialty services.

The hospital is home to the region's Level II Trauma Center serving the entire Coastal Valleys area, including Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino and Lake counties, as well as coastal Marin County.

We are currently seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as a Director of Risk Management.

The Director, Risk Management executes an area-wide risk management program in collaboration with the VP Quality and Patient Safety (Northern California) and SJHS Risk Management.

Responsibilities include risk identification systems, risk control, risk investigation and risk transfer.

Works collaboratively with senior leadership, partnership with physicians and caregivers to reduce risk and promote patient safety, and stay in compliance with current federal and state regulations for healthcare risk management.

The Director, Risk Management also provides a continuous learning and just culture approach to all investigations and reconciliation of all patient safety events and patient feedback.

Works collaboratively with caregivers to ensure a well coordinated and streamlined approach to the mutual goals of the Risk Management and the ministry Patient Experience priorities.

Supervises other risk specialist, project manager and patient relations staff in the dept.

Manages claim activities with third party administrators (TPA) and defense attorneys.

Analyzes trends related to outcomes, improvement plans and reporting.

Participates in appropriate committees, including the Hospital Boards.

Exercises independent judgment and discretion and takes actions as needed based on knowledge of the organization, its policies, procedures, and personnel. 

Minimum Position Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Nursing or other healthcare related degree required, masters preferred.

Will consider JD if experience is acceptable for healthcare.

* Minimum three years in the field of health care risk management within an acute Hospital setting or equivalent experience.

* Previous experience reviewing and understanding health care metrics.

* Previous management experience

* California RN License as appropriate; Certificate corresponding to education requirement.
