Agronomist - North Battleford / Unity, SK

Cargill’s Agricultural Supply Chain – North America (CASC NA) connects agricultural producers to food, feed and industrial customers through a seamless supply chain.

We help our customers compete in the global market and efficiently deliver products from origins to destinations through our marketing, sourcing, originating, storing, trading, consulting and processing of grain, oilseeds and crop inputs products and solutions.

 CASC NA business reaches across Canada, United States & Mexico with an expansive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers.


Reporting to the Regional Agronomy Leader and a member of the Location Team, the Agronomist will be responsible for contributing to crop input sales by leading with knowledge to position products that proactively help our farm customers grow better crops.

 This position works directly as part of the Location team to provide agronomic and crop production solutions for our farm customers.  By providing superior crop production advice and knowledge, the Agronomist will help our farm customers make better decisions for their business.  Our agronomic knowledge will differentiate Cargill from our competitors, leading to stronger business relationships with our customers, and in turn, resulting in incremental sales and margin opportunities for Cargill.

The Agronomist role has progressive job classifications.  Agronomists qualify for each classification based on track record of performance (financial results and behaviours) and leadership skills.

Principal Accountabilities:

* 40%   The position will spend time with existing and prospect customers helping them grow better crops through making sound crop production and risk management decisions.

Areas of focus will include; crop planning, seed selection, nutrient, weed, disease, insect and harvest management.  The Agronomist will work together with the location sales team in positioning products that proactively help our farm customers grow better crops.

This will include joint farm calls with Sales Representatives as well independent farm calls.

The Agronomist will execute the customer focus fundamentals and the best practices as outlined in the Green Book

* 40%   The Agronomist will be responsible for executing on Cargill’s crop input market development plans.  This will include customer field meetings, cooperative product trials, customer agronomy events, marketing support (social media, blogging) and delivery of Cargill’s crop planning services.  Agronomists will also be expected to maintain good relationships with our key crop input suppliers

* 10%    The position will be required to be the “Expert” in crop production for the location team.

This will include providing local crop production training to the location staff
