Staff Accountant

Location: Lincolnshire, IL

Summary -

Prepares standard and specialized financial reports (e.g., balance sheets, income statements) according to generally accepted accounting procedures.

Performs moderately complex financial analyses to summarize current and projected company financial position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

20% Prepares accounting records, documents and reports for the company.  Provides information to NEC Corporate Accounting to aid in consolidation of accounting reports.

20% Reviews charge, expenses, revenue and other accounting data to determine proper allocation.  Identifies required adjustments and resolves questions and discrepancies.

20% Reviews, prepares and reconciles journal entries, prepares account analyses and reconciles inventories, receivables, fixed assets, and liability accounts.  Researches errors and discrepancies, and takes corrective action as appropriate.

10% Assists internal and external auditors in preparation of the annual audit of financial records as directed.  Researches specific items and problems as requested to resolve issues.

10% Maintain fixed asset system through input and update of acquisitions, disposal and transfer of assets in accordance with company policies, procedures and signatory authority.

Assists in conducting fixed asset physical inventory procedures and reconciles physical count with fixed asset subsidiary ledgers.

10% Prepares financial summaries including analyses of profit and loss and general ledger documents.

10% Prepares monthly and ad hoc management reports and analyses as directed.

Additional tasks might be assigned

Prerequisites -

Education:         Bachelor's degree in accounting or business (with an accounting emphasis).

Experience:       Minimum of one year of experience working with bank reconciliations, accounts payable and/or receivables, accruals, and payroll.

Language Skills:       Ability to read and write, reports, correspondence and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:  Skilled in math application

Reasoning Skills:      Strong proficiency in PC applications and on line computer systems required.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent & Professional Business Communication skills

Ability to work in multi-cultural large-scale IT work environment

Computer, System and/or Technical Skills:

Microsoft Excel expertise (advanced level) and other Microsoft Office such as MS Word, Power Point and Outlook

Experience working with accounting systems.

Great Plains Dynamics experience is preferred.

Experience with budgets and financial forecasting & reporting.
