Community Manager – Facebook

Position Purpose

 

Wanted: a social media specialist with outstanding communication skills and a bent for data.

In this role, you will be responsible for helping to launch then manage Cargill's primary Facebook page.

That includes content curation, content creation, community management, strategic guidance, editorial decisions and analytics.

You also will help manage an array of corporate social media channels as part of a collaborative team, so expertise on several social media platforms is essential (particularly Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram).

Excellent judgement, people skills and the ability to navigate a complex global organization are a must.

And, we're looking for someone who knows how to tell a good story clearly and effectively in multiple formats, including written content, images, videos and animation.

However, this is not just a community manager position.

In addition to day-to-day management of social media channels, this role also encompasses higher-level responsibilities.

As part of the tight-knit corporate-level social media team, you will be the embodiment of our best practices and standards.

You will need to be comfortable speaking as a subject matter expert and helping to set the standards for social media across Cargill's global footprint.

You must be comfortable helping to shape, guide and drive social media strategy and best practices in a large organization.

Teaching and presentation skills are crucial, as you will be a go-to adviser for the organization on the topic of social media.

 

This may be a role ideally suited for a social-savvy journalist willing to work outside the newsroom or an already established social media professional looking for a new challenge.

You must be an individual who plays well on a team, likes constantly learning and is an expert multi-tasker.

This is a role for someone who thrives under pressure in a rapidly changing environment.

Experience in a business setting or other business-relevant experience is a plus.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

50% Social media community management and content creation

a. Launch a new social media channel (Facebook) and execute its editorial strategy

b. Guide development of content that supports channel strategy and grows an online audience

c. Respond to online inquiries and support crisis management efforts

d. Align efforts of other social media channels to support larger editorial goals

e. Coordinate paid promotion efforts of multiple internal teams

f.  Coordinate with internal and external colleagues to amplify the company’s efforts across platforms

g. Maintain ongoing knowledge of the latest changes to social media platforms, particularly Facebook

h. Serve as backup for senior community manager and manage additional channels as needed

 

20% Analysis, measurement and reporting

a. Measure performance of Cargill’s corporate social media efforts and benchmark against others
